change the physical and chemical properties of any substance, can absorb light
and reflect lights to show color additives. They are unsaturated complex
compound. Making dyestuffs is normally done in a special solution containing
dyes and particular chemical material. After dyeing, dye molecules have uncut
chemical bond with color fabrics molecules. The temperature and time controlling
are two key factors in production of dyestuffs. There are mainly two classes of
dyes: natural and man-made. Different classes of dyestuffs are used for
different types of fiber and at different stages of the textile production
process, from loose fibers through yarn and cloth to complete garments. Color
is the main attraction of any fabric. Manufacturers across the globe are making
use of synthetic dyes for fabric dyeing, thereby bolstering the demand for

Dyestuff Market Segment Analysis- By Fiber Type
Cotton
held the largest share of over around 22.0% in the dyestuff market in 2021. It's almost
pure cellulose, with softness and breathability that have made it the world's
most popular natural fibre. It absorbs moisture readily, which makes cotton
clothes comfortable in hot weather, while high tensile strength in soap
solutions means they are easy to wash. Cotton is the world's most widely used
natural fibre and still the undisputed "king" of the global textiles
industry. They are strong, dye absorbent and can stand up against
abrasion wear and high temperature. Cotton fibres are often blended with other fibres
such as nylon, linen, wool, and polyester, to achieve the best properties of
each fibre. According to Ministry of Textiles in financial year 2020, cotton production in India amounted to
approximately 36.5 million bales. Favourable trade policies and increasing

Recent Developments
- In November 2021, Huntsman Textile Effects introduced Avitera, a line of polyreactive dyes for cotton that readily bond to fiber. Avitera dyes use tri-functional chemical reactivity that provides a high reaction and fixation rate with cellulosic fiber, leaving very little unfixed dye to be removed. This dramatically reduces water and energy usage by up to 50 percent, and uses up to 20 percent less salt.
- In September 2020, Ecofoot has developed hybrid pigments composed of a dye chemically linked to a polymer particle that reacts with cellulose fibres at temperatures as low as 25ºC. This technology doesn’t require the use of salt. This technology can be applied for dyeing cotton garments at low temperatures and also to wool in a more ecological process.
- In 2019 ,Officina+39, an Italy based company, developed the sustainable dye range Recycrom using recycled clothing, fiber material, and textile scraps. It developed a sophisticated eight-step system in which all the fabric fibers are crystalized into an extremely fine powder that can be used as a pigment dye for fabrics and garments made of cotton, wool, nylon, or any natural fiber.
